I Am Missing - Tim Weaver || Review

When a young man wakes up bruised, beaten and with no memory of who he is or where he came from, the press immediately dub him 'The Lost Man'.

Ten months later, Richard Kite - if that is even his real name - remains as desperate as ever. Despite appeals and the efforts of the police, no one knows this man.

Kite's last hope may be private investigator David Raker - a seasoned locator of missing people. But Raker has more questions than answers.

Who is Richard Kite?

Why does no one know him?

And what links him to the body of a woman found beside a London railway line two years ago?

I Am Missing is the outstanding new novel from Sunday Times bestselling author Tim Weaver.

💜Review💜

I wasn't sure what to think going into this, I have read a fair few Tim Weaver now, never in order - just if one takes my fancy so I have met David Raker a few times, not enough to know him fully but enough to delve in straight away. I am missing follows the story of Richard Kite "The Lost Man" who wakes up one day with no memory of anything in his life ever - and no one knows him either proves to be a case that Raker is determined to crack. There is nothing to work with, so where does Raker even start?

This was an intriguing novel, with a completely different premise to anything I had come across. I mean - I wouldn't have a clue where to start with the information Raker had so kudos for that. We follow Raker, Kite & a bunch of other people on a search to find out Kites past. I do like Tim Weaver books, and they often have a wonderful plot to them but they never quite get me.

I feel like there is always something missing for me in these novels, I am not sure whether its the way they are told or the fact its maybe more crime than thriller but I kind of just got to the end of this one and felt a bit flat.

It's not that I didn't get the answers because it was all cleared up and I discovered all the answers to everything I wanted to know. It just was odd - and right now I am not sure whether that is good or not. I just kind of felt underwhelmed. However, Raker is a likeable bloke and I have always enjoyed meeting him, David Kite was one of those characters that get you in the feels - I wanted answers for him, i wanted to know where he came from and why he couldn't remember his past.

Overall - this could have been a 5* but it just wasn't right for me, yet I know this book would be a fantastic read for those who love the crime genre, love an investigator you can get behind, and I know full well that i will probably read other Tim Weaver books.
